The 4-kilometre (2.5-mile) boardwalk spans the length of Halifax’s waterfront, putting all the luxuries, indulgences, and charm of our ocean city at your feet. Learn about the province’s history both landside and seaside—take a tour of the harbourfront by boat or kayak, or explore the beautiful waterfront boardwalk by bike, foot, or Segway.

Looking to discover the cultural identity of our nation? Be sure to visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21, featuring recently expanded exhibits showcasing Canada’s immigration story. Soak up the bustling music scene at one of the many live music venues or at the annual Halifax Jazz Festival. Take in a live outdoor performance by Shakespeare by the Sea at the city’s 186-acre seaside urban Point Pleasant Park.

Just a short, 15-minute ferry ride across the harbour is Dartmouth. The downtown is compact and walkable, with locally owned cafés, restaurants, galleries, and bars. Browse Portland Street, where you’ll find a collection of interesting and inspired shop owners providing a unique local shopping experience.
